Rothiemurchus Fishery

Rothimurchus

On holiday in and around Aviemore? The Ciarngorms look daunting. Why not go fishing?

Some times the Spey can be an unforgiving river; low water, high water, cold water, no fish, then next day it might be different and off course there is Sunday, a no salmon fishing day in Scotland. If like me you want 7 days fishing when you're on you're hols. trout fishing is just the ticket.

There are lots of fishing opportunities in the area, check out Where to Fish

however if you just want a bit of local fun or a family day out  Rothiemurchus fishery is a great option. Just a short stroll from Aviemore Centre on the road to Loch Morlich brings you to Inverdruie and a very fine fishery where they will hire out a tackle is you have none with you.

Rothiemurchus Fishery has a bait pond, great for kids and beginners, and two well stocked lochans. Rainbows up to double figures are stocked regularly from the fisheries own hatchery. There is a picnic area, tackle hired, a shop and tuition can be arranged. Off course you can just go fishing for hard fighting fish and enjoy the surroundings and the sound of screaming reels.

Buzzers do well, there is good surface activity and plenty of room to roam. When the Spey is unforgiving and you just need confirmation that you aren't a fishing numpty Rothiemurchus has saved face for many an angler.
