Go Fishing with Charlie Whelan
For guided fishing trips around Speyside Email Charlie at: About Charlie The former Press Secretary to Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown, has given up spinning in the hot waters of Westminster to take up fly fishing in the cooler climes of the Highlands where even the worst of Scottish weather cannot subdue his enthusiasm for the art of fly fishing.
Not satisfied with taking his first
salmon on his first fishing trip he went on to take his second a few
months later while Speycasting, proceeded to take his first double
figure fish not long after and then his first 20 plus salmon.
Charlie knows the waters near his home as well as anyone around and
will find the fish when they are there to be taken whether you are
looking for a bit of salmon fishing, sea trout fishing or to pursue
some of the fantastic wild brown trout to be found in our Speyside
rivers and lochs.
There are so many angling opportunities in and around Grantown on Spey whether you are fishing for salmon and sea trout on the exceptional Association waters of Grantown and Abernethy or one of the nearby private beats like Castle Grant, Kinchurdy or Kincardine. When it comes to trout there are some wonderful places of great scenic beauty to while away the time exploring the river Dulnain or drifting near the Wolf of Badenoch's island stronghold on Lochindorb. Go to http://wheretofish.spinfish.co.uk/Salmonwheretofish.html or http://wheretofish.spinfish.co.uk/TroutwheretoFish.html for details of the fishing available on Speyside. Charlie will be happy to guide you around his favourite haunts surrendering some of the secrets of his angling success. Just don't ask Charlie to spin, it hurts his back (once it was Whitehall knives now its just plain old age)! Golf When you have caught all the fish you want to catch you may just want a change of scene. Charlie is also a keen golfer and would be happy to take you on a round of golf on one of the many stunning 18 and 9 hole golf courses in the area. Go to http://www.spinfish.co.uk/GolfCourses.html for more information about the golf courses in the area.
