Located on the Gleneagles Estate in
Glen Devon this naturalised fishery nestles in
the Ochil Hills and is populated not only with a first class head of
trout (rainbows, blue and wild brown trout) but also boasted a
collection of wildlife to enthuse the ornithologists among us with
sightings of Osprey, Buzzard, Hen Harrier, Peregrine Falcon, Merlin
and Red Kite on record. Despite its
apparent remoteness Frandy is only 45 minutes from both Glasgow and
Edinburgh, 20 minutes from Stirling. It's so easy to get away from it
all at Frandy Fishery.
For bookings and more information contact Ken McCutcheon by clicking HERE or phone 01259 781352 About the Fishery: With a maximum depth of over 100 ft, shallowing off in many heather-clad bays to between 2 and 8 ft, the fishing is often very visual with an abundance of terrestrial insects taking naturals of the surface. Tickets are available for both boat and bank fishing sessions as are tickets at reduced rates for Juniors, OAPs and catch and release. The loch has a policy of stocking with more fish than are taken which will in time build up a stock of naturalised fish of unpredictable size.

There are good facilities with plenty of car parking, a lodge serving hot and cold food and a tackle shop where you can get advice on the taking flies and tactics and tuition for beginners can be arranged. The thing about Frandy in keeping with so many of the best old reservoirs is that it looks so natural, a classic example of a man made loch where stocked fish have room to live and grow. A seven pound ten ounce blue and the stunning brown trout below are clear cut evidence of the quality of fishing to be enjoyed in this special spot in Perthshire. Log on to; www.frandyfishery.com
