Sourced from waters flowing from the Wiclow Mountains the Avoca forms where the Avonmore and Avonbeg rivers meet.

Further down stream the Avoca joins the Auhgrim then flow on to the sea at Arklow.
There are plenty of brown trout odf up to half a pund with some getting to a pound. There is also a run of sea trout that average about a pound.

Rathdrum Trout Anglers have fishing on the Avonmore but cannot find out where day tickets can be obtained. There is a pub oat the meetings called The Meeting (RHS of the pic above) maybe they know.

Dargle
A short spate river of about 12 miles the Dargle runs from the Wicklow Mountain through the rapids and falls of Glen Dragle to the sea at Bray.
An excellent sea trout fishery with runs starting in May continuing through to September. The is also a run of grilse in the summer.
Dargle Anglers have control of a good stretch of the river. Day tickets available from Viking Tackle Bray Sports Centre and Roys Tackle in Dun Loahaire

Annamoe Trout Fishery
Annamoe Trout Fishery located on the banks of the Annamoe river is a 4 acre fishery stocked with rainbow trout averaging 3 to 4lbs with some going to 20lbs. Fishing is fly only however they do have a small Junior / Family pool stocked with rainbow 10 to 12 inches where bait fishing is allowed.
There is a log cabin offering a tackle shop, snacks and casting lessons are available. Tackle hire too.
Like most fisheries the banks are weel kept im areas and would suit people with mobility problems.

Ashtown Reservoir
Fishing on Ashtown Reservoir near Wicklow town is controlled by Wicklow Vartry Angling Club. An attractive water with good feeding for the lake which is stocked and maintained by the club.

Blessington Lake
Bessington Lake (Pollaphuca Reservoir) is a 5,000 acre lake, part of the Electicity Supply Board hydro scheme (ESB).
Stocked regularly with rainbow and brown trout of about 1 pound average, the waters also hold some ferox to 10lbs. Fishing from a boat is pest.
The fishery also has excellent stocks of roach, rudd and perch and some very good pike fishing.
An Electricity Supply Board permit required. Permits from Charles Camping in Blessington. Boat permits from ESB call +353 (0) 87 3552403). Boat hire in Ballyknockan call 87 3552403.

Roundwood Lakes
Part of the water supply for Dublin there are 2 lakes Upper and Lower offering fishing for wild brown trout, bank only.The fish range in size from half to three quarters of a pound. Fishing is fly only. Permits from the Vartry Waterworks at the south dam.

National Disabled Anglers Facility
The NDAF is located in Aughrim. A custom build lake stocked with rainbows. There are specially build pathways allowing access to the water edge and most of the lake is accessible. There is a pavillion and club house with venadas offering good views of the fishery. Cafe and toilets for disabled.

Rathcon Farm
Rathcon Farm near Grangecon is an 8.5 acre lake up to 10 ft deep stocked with triploid rainbows and brown trout. There is a lodge on site. Clay pigeon shooting , laser skirmishing archery all on site too so take the family and they will be happy while you fish in peace.

Tinnahinch Fly Fishery
Located near Enniskerry Tinnahinch is a 4 acre gin clear manmade lake sited by the river Dargle. With gin clear water with peninsulas and 5 islands, there are plenty of feature to fish to and from.
the lake is stocked with rainbow to 16lbs, all full finned fighting fishs. Fixed fee C & R plus pay per fish kept. There is also a junior pool open at the weekends where bait is allowed.
There is a club house on site with a bar and tackle shop.
They also have a stretch of the excellent River Dargle up in Dargle Glen, much improved by the owner. Night fishing for sea trout best, fly only. Sea trout arrive May to September also some grilse.

Wicklow Mountains National Park
The National Park has wild fishing for small brown trout on the Upper Liffey and the Anamore plus loughs Dan, Glenalough Upper and Lower, Kellys Lough and Lough Ouler.
The fishing season is 15th March to 30th September.

Kings River
The Kings river enters Poulaphouca (Blessington) Reservoir at the very south of the fishery. It looks a bit trouty but but it is in the channel where it enters Poulaphouca you will find one of the pike hot spots.
