The Old Smiddy
The Old Smiddy at Stronachlachar, located just a few steps from the waters of Loch Katrine, offers a special 'get away from it all' experience. Located in a bay over looking the loch the views are exceptional looking down the loch past Factors Island where Rob Roy imprisoned the local laird's employee, to Royal Cottage where Queen Victoria's visit was cut short when the cannon salute in honour of the Queen Empress blew out all of the windows of her over night accommodation! She was not amused.
Fishing, walking, biking, stags on the hills, eagles soaring, a trip on the Sir Walter Scott from the nearby Stronachlachar pier where the Tearoom offers meals and drinks in the newly refurbished restaurant, the Old Smiddy offers you a perfect location to explore the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.
Inside the the cottage is modern, fresh and comfortably furnished. Spaciously open plan on the whole of the ground floor it has a modern kitchen, dishwasher, central heating, big screen TV and an open fire. Patio doors take you outside to a gravel patio, perfect for alfresco eating. Up stairs there are 3 bedrooms (1 double, 2 twins) and a toilet with bath and shower.
