Just a few miles out of Townhill, Dunfermline not far from the now defunct Loch Fitty off the A832 you will find Balmule Park Fishery
Stocking policy with rainbows and blues to 1.75lbs looks promising. Anglers report seeing fish being stocked on a regular basis to ensure that there is a good population and the fish are not just standard stockies. I spoke to a chap who had a 10lb rainbow on the fly and returned one that was a bit bigger, caught on bait. He told me that a guy opposite had a brownie of about 7lb. That seems par for the course with fish up to double figures being caught almost daily.
While it was April when I paid a visit Balmule looks like a work in progress, a bit bleak. I know that later in the season the reed beds will grow and off an evening is will look more fishy and attractive.
The fishery allows any method fly, bait, spinning which is great for non fly anglers, beginners and kids. There are a variety of permit options including kids under 12 go free when accompanied by a paying adult. Family fiendly there is a little play park and a lodge selling hot and cold drinks, tackle and tackle hire.
