WEEK ENDING 28/07/19

1. FRANDY (Gleneagles) ) Fishing from the bank Hamish Fulton from Larbert kept 2 fish weighing 4lbs 14oz and released a further 2, Gordon Graham (Kilmarnock) 10 c/r and Lee Cassidy (Kilmarnock) had 10 c/r.
On the individual boat returns Bob Dick & Geoff Hemmings kept 10 fish weighing 19lb 8oz released a further 7 and Marshall Jamieson (Perth) kept 3 fish weighing 6lb 8oz.
The angling clubs had good results with the Falkirk F/C keeping 4 fish weighing 7lb &and releasing a further 2, Perthshire v Perth Interclub Competition kept 3 fish weighing 5lb 2oz, Townhill A/C had 20 fish for 37lb and Falkirk Fly Dressers A/C kept 11 fish weighing 20lb. Leslie & Glenrothes A/C took 10 fish weighing 17lb 14oz released 5 and Gartmore A/C kept 13 fish weighing 21lb 3oz.
The best catching flies included the Daddy Longlegs, Red Tagged Cormorant, Green Buzzer and Micro Black Boobies whilst the top fishing spots were the top of the Dog Leg and on the north shore

2. ORCHILL TROUT FISHERY (Braco)

On Tuesday Kenny McAlpine from Thurso had 2 fish for 12 lbs - best 9lbs 9oz on a Cat, The Vale AC got 22 fish for 60lbs with most fish being taken on CDC’s and the winner was Tony with 4 fish for14lbs. The Lochgelly SRC had 7 fish weighing 15lbs 11ozs, Robbie Scotland from Stirling took 3 fish for 8lbs 8oz on a Yellow & Orange - best 4lbs 8oz and S Bryant from Bo’ness took 3 fish weighing 7lbs 8oz on Buzzers. Kong from  Crieff had 2 fish for 5lbs 8oz on a Black 7 Green Fritz, Harry Graham (Glenrothes)1 fish for 4lbs on a Sedge, Peter McLean (Clackmannan) 2 fish for 4lbs 9oz on a Kate McLaren, Mike Lord from Murthly managed 4 fish for12lbs on Dries and  David Stirling from Buchany had 1 fish for 3lbs on a Dry.

5. SWANSWATER (Stirling)

The start of the week saw some excellent fishing conditions and some great sport.   As the week went on the weather became very hot and humid with bright sunshine.   Water temperature hit 19oC and things slowed down for both bait and fly.  The fish started the week around 12 to 18 inches down but went deeper as the temperature rose.  However, when the water was at its warmest, dry flies were doing best.  Also catching this week were Damsel, Hare’s Ear, Dancer, Blob, wet Daddy Long Legs and wet Spider.  On the bait pond Maggots and Black Power Bait were most successful.  As has been the case for a number of weeks the Golds were providing a lot of fun.   These very visible fish were seen following flies in close to the bank before, more often than not, turning away to chase something else.  Hopefully the rain at the weekend will have freshened up the water in all the ponds and fishing conditions will improve again at the start of the week.

On the angling club front Glasgow University Staff A/C kept 5 fish weighing 11lb 2 oz., Auchenhowie A/C 2 fish weighing 4lb 3oz, RAF Northern League  12 fish weighing 22lb 9oz, Edinburgh Waltons A/C  12 fish weighing 22lb 9oz and released 5 and the Foresters Fly Fishing Society kept 3 fish weighing 5lb 12oz. Pitlochry A/C kept 16 fish weighing 31lb 8oz and released 7, Bank of Scotland A/C took 14 fish weighing 24lb, St Peters Fly Fishers kept 27 fish weighing 56lb  released  14, Perth RASC A/C  13 fish for 25lb 8oz and  Dunning AC kept 14 fish weighing 25lb 12oz.the top catching flies last week included the Sedge Muddler, Daddy Longlegs, Cut Throat Cats and Cormorants  whilst the Dog Leg and the middle are the best fishing spots.

2. ORCHILL TROUT FISHERY (Braco)

Because there is so much natural feeding in the water right now the fish are being attracted by bright colours so flies and lures incorporating bright green, red, yellow and orange are all doing well.

The Eagle Club from Tillicoultry had 10 fish for 36lbs 8oz with   A Beverage having the top bag with 3 fish for 12lbs - best fish 6lbs on a Bloodworm. On Sunday, Alexander Buses had 21 fish for 53lbs 8oz - heaviest basket S Bennie with 4 fish 12lbs -  best 4lbs 12oz on a  Bright Green Buzzer, Ian Law (Paisley) 3 fish weighing 7bs 8oz on a White Fritz and Alistair Sangster from Blackford used a Damsel to take 2 for 5lbs. Greg Lockhart from Dunblane caught a couple for 5lbs 8oz on Buzzers, G Frater (Stirling) 3 fish for 8lbs on the CDC and Damsel, Jim Linton (Moodiesburn) 8 fish for 21lbs on Blobs and Hector Wilson from Bannockburn took 3 fish for 7lbs 8oz on an Okey Dokey.

3. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry)

As temperatures rise and more natural feed becomes available on the water it is increasingly important to achieve optimum fly presentation in order to maximise returns.

Dry patterns e.g. Sugar cube Shipman, Yellow Owl, various emerger patterns and buzzers are accounting for the best catches.

On the Boathouse Pool, Chris Skivington returned nine fish.

At present the Bankside Pool is producing the best results. Mr. Smith released thirteen taken mainly on dries and Robert Gibson returned six including a superb rainbow estimated at 12lbs.

Light green Powerbait fished beneath a float has been the outstanding method on the Woodside Pool (any legal method). On Thursday 21 fish were taken for a combined weight of 40lbs 8oz.

5. SWANSWATER (Stirling)

In common with many other fisheries, the fishing at Swanswater was pretty hard going this week.  The hot humid weather meant fishing conditions were far from perfect, but the fishery is grateful to those anglers who came out and tried hard to catch fish.  The rain on Friday night freshened the water up and improved things, especially on the small ponds. 

On the main pond the fish were in various areas and at various depths throughout the week with the bridge area, where the water from the burn is most effective, one of the most prolific spots.  Wet flies fished on an intermediate line were tempting fish, but there were many more offers than catches.  The usual patterns were doing well, including Damsel, Cormorant, Diawl Bach, Cat’s Whisker, Hopper and Buzzer. 

On the bait pond, maggots and green power bait were the most successful.  The Golds were providing a lot of fun especially on the small ponds and a good number of all varieties of fish were taken this week.  On the Millpond, bait and fly anglers were both doing well by fishing at the inflows and also at the bottom end.

Amongst those catching this week were Danny Doherty, Denny, 5 for 15lb including a Gold, Iain Fern, fishing bait, 5 for 11lb 12oz including 4 Golds, Keith Muckersie, Peebles took 4 from the small ponds including 3 Golds, plus 1 C&R, Ricky Goodwin, Larbert, 3 for 8lb 4oz including a Blue, plus 1 C&R, Jack Whitfield 3 for 7lb 6oz from the Millpond including 2lb 10oz Brown and Ryan Beaton 3 for 6lb from the Millpond including 2 Golds. David Wilson, Peebles, 3 from the small ponds including a Blue and a Brown, Robbie McGuire and Lino, 3 for 6lb from the Millpond, Jordan Solomon 3 for 6lb on bait including 2 Golds, Jim Allen, Kilsyth, 2 for 5lb plus 1 C&R and Isobel Wylie and Billy Armitage shared 3 for 6lb on bait including a Gold and a Tiger. Jamie Wilson caught his first ever fish on the fly, 2lb 8oz Gold from the Millpond, James Hall took a 2lb Gold on bait and missed a further 7 or 8, John Geddes caught and released 6 including a Gold, a Tiger and a Brown, Stephen Anderson, Glenrothes, caught and released 6 and Gary Waugh, Cumbernauld, caught and released 4. Alan Kirkham caught and released 3.

6. WOODBURN (Milton of Campsie)

The Goth AC had a good outing on Saturday despite the high water temperature and ended up with 34fish for 120lb and also returning some nice fish – the best from Steven Louden with one at 17lbs 4oz.Also doing well was Robert McIntyre from Kilsyth with 4 c/r – biggest 9lbs 2oz, S McDonald (Airdrie) 3 c/r, John Shaw (Kilsyth) 11 c/r on 2 visits largest 7lbs 8oz, Stewart Sutherland (Kirkintilloch) 6 c/r largest 9lbs 12oz and Mr. Taggart from Glasgow took 4 4 for 10lb on bait. Graham Brown from Cumbernauld had 6 c/r – best 9lbs, Mr. Bandour (Balmore) 4 for 7lbs 12oz, Craig Rodgers 2 for 7lbs, James Bet (Glasgow) 1 blue for 4lbs on bait, J Naismith 11 c/r - largest 10lbs, Don Stewart (Lenzie) 11 c/r, Jimmy Young returned a 12 pounder, Brian Neilson returned a 10 pounder and B Houghton from Stirling also returned a 10 pounder. Ronnie McKenzie from Tarbet 3 for 8lbs, Peter Tanner (Kirkintilloch) 4 c/r, Mark Anderson Kilsyth 3 c/r, ,Alan Lane 4 taken,  2 c/r - largest 7lbs and Chris Kerr took 4, returned 5 including a big brown.

On the individual boat fishing front Jack Horne & Gerry Calder from Auchterarder) caught  released 6, Bobby Paterson (Stirling) 9 c/r, David McIntosh (Forfar) released 4 and James Lauder from Strathallan kept 4 fish weighing 7lbs.

The angling clubs were out in force with the Perthshire F/C keeping 5 fish weighing 8lbs 8oz, Dundee A/C kept 48 fish weighing 92lb 6oz and released a further 6,  Pentland Civil Service A/C kept 37 fish weighing 75lb 13oz and released  9, Loch Inch A/C kept 13 fish weighing 22lb 6oz and released 14 and Roslin Elite F/C kept 18 fish weighing 32lbs 8oz.Ferry Fly Dressers A/C kept 11 fish weighing 22lb 14oz,  Dunoon & District A/C kept 14 fish weighing 22lb 8oz,  Stanley A/C 12 fish for 22lb 4oz, Select Fly Fishers A/C caught and released 14  and Ferranti A/C kept 10 fish weighing 18lb 8oz.

The best catching flies and lures included the Olive Daddy Longlegs, Cormorants, Sedge Muddler and the Kate McLaren and the top fishing spots were at the Upper Dogleg on the Far Shore

.2. ORCHILL TROUT FISHERY (Braco)

Last week had some very warm and calm spells when it is good to see the life in and on top of the water and the challenge presented to match these conditions.

The Diageo Retirement Assoc. had a good outing taking 12 fish for 37lbs 12oz, Bernie McVetis from Stirling took 3 fish for 9lbs 12oz on an Olive, Colin Morrison (Alloa) had 3 fish for 7lbs on a Fab and Buzzers, Kong from Crieff used a Yellow Dancer to take a brace for 7lbs and Ron Weetman from Dunning had a nice fish at 3lbs on a Black Bug. Donald Blyth from Doune had 2 for 5lbs on a Green Buzzer, Colin Clement (Tyndrum) took 4 fish for 10lbs on a Green Bug, Martin Hudak (Alloa) 1 fish 3lbs on a Fab and Jack Horne from Auchterarder had a cracker at 5lbs on a CDC.

3. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry)

The crazy changes in weather continue and although it has been far from settled there have been spells when excellent results have been achieved. Water clarity has been variable, depending on the amount of rain in the system.

On the Boathouse Pool the best fish reported this week has been a magnificent Rainbow estimated at 14lbs, which was returned as part of Alan Leslie’s catch. Robert Gibson mastered the conditions, catching eight in a short session including two superb Rainbows estimated at 12lbs each. On the numbers side of things, Mr. Adamson enjoyed an excellent day releasing 11 fish on a catch/release ticket. Andy Cowan also did well, returning 12 (6 from Boathouse and 6 from Burnside).Anything from Buzzers to Lures produced results in the right situation.

The Burnside Pool has been very variable with fish seeming to come in short feeding spells. On Tuesday four anglers released 37 fish, with Jock Leslie and Grant Burnett accounting for 29 of them. Various dry fly patterns and nymphs triggered most of the action.

Despite large numbers of fish being seen rising in the Bankside Pool catching them has proved somewhat difficult. For those who found the magic key the results were well worth the effort. Mr. Tierney returned nine fish and Kevin Wilson released eight. Diawl Bachs and Crunchers seemed to be the preferred choices.

Powerbait again dominated the catches on the Woodside Pool (any legal method), although maggots and spinners also accounted for fish. Mr. Stevens caught nine fish for 16lbs; Mr. Chester took six fish for a total of 10lbs; Mr. Cormack and Lucas took six fish each for combined weights of 9lbs (each); Mr. Innes had four fish for 7lbs and Mr. Matthew landed four fish for a total of 6lbs 8oz.

The Blawearie Basin (Children’s Pool ONLY) received a lot of attention during the week. It is a great way for youngsters to learn the basics of fishing in a catch and release environment. Barbless hooks MUST BE USED with all fish being carefully handled (wet hands, please) and returned safely to the water. There are rainbows, blue trout, roach and perch in the pool.

5. SWANSWATER (Stirling)

The warm weather continued this week making for tricky conditions at times.   For much of the week the fish were in the top 2 feet of the water although they went down a little deeper when the sun was at its hottest and brightest. 

The island, the bridge and the big tree were the favoured spots.  Many anglers were reporting seeing fish following flies and turning away, or were getting plenty of offers but not so many takes.  

The Millpond continues to fish well for both bait and fly anglers with a good variety of different coloured trout coming off.  Favourite flies this week included Dancer, Damsel, Black Fritz, Diawl Bach, Kate McLaren, Sedge, and Buzzer.  

On the bait pond, maggots and green power bait were the most successful. 

Those doing well on the fly this week included Robert Watt, Glasgow, 5 for 16lb including a Gold, a Brown and a Tiger, plus 4 C&R including a Brown, Alastair Mann, Dunfermline, 4 for 14lb 8oz including 5lb 12oz Gold and a Brown, Henry Fulton, Greenock, 5lb 4oz Blue and his son, Matthew, 4lb 12oz Gold, Stuart Wallace, Alloa, in two visits, 5 for 11lb 2oz from the Millpond including a Gold, Robbie McGuire & Lino, Stirling, 3 for 7lb from the small ponds including 2 Golds, plus 1 C&R and Cameron Brolly 3 Golds from the Millpond. Eddie McKillop, Glasgow, 2 for 7lb 12oz including a Blue, Tom Hemmings 2 for 4lb 8oz including a Brown, Mike Chubb 4lb 8oz Rainbow, Les Cooper, Dunblane, 4lb 8oz Rainbow, Liam Dunn 2lb 4oz Brown from the Millpond and Billy Docherty 2lb Tiger from the Millpond. Andy Duffin, Cowie, 2lb Gold from the Millpond plus 4 C&R, Derek Gray, Dalgety Bay, caught and released 6, Ross Gracie caught and released 4, Ross Cochrane caught and released 4 including a Blue, Harry Haggarty caught and released 3 from his float tube including a Blue and a Brown and Robert Cochrane caught and released 3.

Amongst those catching on bait were Willie Martin 4 for 9lb including a Blue, Jordan Purvis 2lb Gold, Jake McEwan 2 for 6lb, Laurence Skinner and Alex Davis 2 each for 7lb 8ozincluding 3 Tigers and a Gold, Stephen Dunn 2 for 4lb, Craig Gordon 2 for 4lb 4oz including a Gold and William and Ben Morrison shared 4 for 7lb 4oz including 3 Golds.

6. WOODBURN (Milton of Campsie)

The fishing has been excellent of late but the hot, sunny weather over the weekend certainly drove the fish much deeper but evening fishing was top class with small CDC’s, Buzzers and Sedge patterns doing the business.

As usual some big boys featured in the catches with Andy Young having 9 c/r including one at 12lbs 8oz, Mr. McTaggart from Kirkintilloch had 4 for 30lbs on c/r including two at 12lbs each, Johnny Curkham had 8 c/r including fish of 10lbs 8ozm 9lbs and 6lbs and Peter Clark from Kilsyth 16 c/r including a couple of double figure specimens. Also doing well was Gordon Craig from Glasgow with 3 for 8lbs, Mr Clark (Kilsyth) kept 2 for 5lbs and returned one at 7lbs, Mr. Gavin (Stepps) 3 for 6lbs 8oz, Peter Tanner (Kirkintilloch) 6 c/t, Graham Brown (Kilsyth) 16 c/r, Mr. West (Lenzie) 2 for 5lbs and Steven lee from Denny had15 c/r. Willie Wright from Kilsyth bagged 2 for 4lbs 8oz, Andy Young 9 c/r – best 5lbs, Jack Eskom 6 c/r – heaviest 5lbs, John Shaw (Kilsyth) 2 c/r, Robert McIntyre 2 c/r – best 8lbs and Duncan Stewart had 12 c/r.

Fishing from the bank Jim Symon from Cowie kept 5 fish weighing 10lb and released 4, Brendan Honeybun (Lochore) 2 fish weighing 5lb, Gerry Grattan (Kincardine) 2 fish weighing 5lb, Joe Varela (Glasgow) caught and released 4, Crawford McEwan (Newmains) released 10 and Jim Keatings from Newmains had 2 fish for 4lb and released a 2.

On the individual boat front Graham Tomlinson & Johnny Donaldson from Aberdour kept 8 fish weighing 13lb 2oz, Peter Grubb (Glenrothes) 5 fish for 10lb and released 5, Billy Thomson & Tosh Stewart (Auchterarder) kept 10 fish weighing 20lb 8oz and released a further 10, Davie Joyce (Perth) caught and released 6 whilst Ronnie Turnbull & Jimmy Miller from Tillicoultry kept 9 fish weighing 19lb and released a further 7.
The CSSC A/C kept 34 fish weighing 63lb 12oz, The Invicta Club kept 10 fish weighing 19lb 6oz and the Good Companions A/C kept 17 fish weighing 30lb 8oz.

The best flies last week included the Muddler Hopper, Hoppers, Deer Hair Sedge, Orange Blob, Tequila Fab and the Klinkhammer whilst all areas continue to fish well.

.2. ORCHILL TROUT FISHERY (Braco) It has been a good fishing week with plenty of fish being caught, from lures down to size 20 with very little dressing. On Saturday the Goth Club had a good day taking 44 fish for 110lbs 10oz with the winners of the Pairs being Billy Weir 4 fish for 11lbs 12oz and Colin Weir with 4 fish weighing 10 lbs. Jim Gillespie from  Kirkliston had 3 fish for12lbs 2oz - best 6lbs 8oz  Dark Dries, Hector Wilson (Bannockburn)3 fish weighing  8lbs 8oz on a  Suspender Buzzer, Brian Thain (Glasgow) 3 fish for 11lbs 8oz on a Damsel and Jamie Deans from Auchterarder used a Yellow Wotsit to take 2 fish for 6lbs. Alec Fitzsimmons from Fintry had 3 fish for 8lbs 8oz on  Black & Blae, Andrew Black (Tullibody) 3 fish for 10 lbs on Buzzers, Martin Lindores (Bonnybridge) 3 fisher 9 lbs on a Daddy and Sandy Donald from Dunblane had 3 fish for 7lbs 8oz on a Beetle.

3. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) Dry flies have dominated the returns as the best method here at Forbes of Kingennie this past week. Even as we move into July the water clarity is very clear and surface activity has been prolific at times. The Burnside has been the busiest pond with the best return being taken by Mr Edwards with 18 caught and released up to 8lb on a mix of Dries and Buzzers. The Deid Ferret Fly Fishing Club took 16 fish for a combined weight of 44lbs. Mr Low had 3 for 8lb and 12 put back on Hoppers. Mr Birse has had a couple of really good mornings putting back 12 and 11 in just a couple of hours on a Yellow Floating Fry. Ian Gordon released 9 with the best fish being a fine Rainbow estimated at 11lbs. On Thursday four anglers returned a total of 33 fish. The Boathouse Pool has been producing good returns with the best this week being Jim Brown with 22 fish including 2 doubles on a mix of lures and the bung. Mr Thomson returned 10 and  Mr Gibson had a hectic hour landing 8 fish up to 10lb on Olive Worms on a fast glass. The Bankside is still gin clear and the fish are very visible up on the surface. Mr Burnett had a great day returning 12 on dries with 2 over 10lb and Mr Leslie also had 12 on dries but lost 2 big fish after going right down to the backing. The Woodside bait pond has been really busy with loads of fish getting caught from the pond on a number of methods. Powerbait under the float is still best but worms are also effective right now. Mr Whiteford and his son had good morning landing 4 fish for 10lb with the biggest weighing 5lb 4oz all on orange Powerbait, Mr Bourne had 5 for 9lb on worms and Mr Watson had 4 for 8lb on spinners. The Blawearie Pool has been stocked with hundreds of 1lb blue and rainbow trout and will be running as an any method, catch and release pond for children over the summer. This offers a great chance for youngsters to learn the basics of angling and how to take care of fish.

4. MARKLE (East Lothian) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The changeable weather this week led to the fish being in different places at different times.   The water temperature remained at 15oC all week and water clarity is still excellent.   Some days the fish were just below the surface and on other days they were around 2 to 3 feet down.  Browns and Tigers were to be found around the Bridge.   The area around the big tree and the boat jetty and the Dam were also good spots.   On certain days those fishing from boats were doing very well.  As is common at this time of year, the fish were sometimes difficult to tempt but a good number are still being caught. Most successful flies included Dancer, Craft-eye Cat, Damsel, Diawl Bach, Olive nymph, Dunkeld, Black Pennell, Hopper and Buzzer.   On the bait pond Maggots and green power bait were working best. The Fishery opening hours are 8.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Wednesday and 8.00am to 9.00pm, Thursday to Sunday.
A selection of the best bags this week included John Mooney, Queenzieburn, 5 for 15lb including 2 Browns, plus 1 C&R, Danny Doherty, Denny, 5 for 15lb including a Blue, Ian Whitfield, Denny, in three visits, 5 for 14lb 14oz including a Gold and a Tiger, Andy Duffin, Cowie, in two visits, 5 for 12lb including 2 Golds and Barry Hamilton, Moodiesburn, 3 for 9lb 8oz.Gerrard Dawson, Stirling, 3 for 9lb 4oz including a Blue, Ian Whitfield, Jnr, Denny 2 for 6lb 4oz,Charles Findlater 2 for 6lb including a Brown, John Swan 2 Tigers for 5lb, Alex Botezatu, Stirling, 4lb Rainbow and Marcus Tripney caught and released 9 including a Blue around 4lb and a 6-7lb Brown. Stewart Marshall caught and released 6, Graeme Baird caught and released 4 and Stephen Anderson caught and released 2 including a Brown estimated at 6lb.
On the bait pond William Morrison 4 for 11lb including a Blue and a Tiger, Ian Fern 4 for 10lb 4oz including 3lb 12oz Gold, Eva Fern 3 for 6lb including 2 Golds and Liepa Liurus 4 for 9lb. Demi and Lucas McFadyen had 3 for 6lb 8oz including a Blue, Thomas Mylchreest 1 for 2lb 8oz and Ryan McCormack 1 for 2lb.

6. WOODBURN (Milton of Campsie) The really nice weather of late makes it great to be out fishing but THE fish are being a wee bit choosy with all the natural fly life around especially when they are on the caenis. Really small dries e.g. size 18 still the most productive at the moment - restocking takes place on Wednesday this week. The fishery recently saw the introduction of some big fish including one mint conditioned specimen that tipped the scales at 22lbs.Woodburn owner Sandy Bankier said “the 22lb rainbow was an amazing fish, I’ve never seen a trout that big and would love to know how long it's been in our tanks”
Last week’s catches included those from the Kilsyth Fish Protection club who did well on Saturday, fishing in the blazing sun, taking 27 fish for 64lbs. The winner was Peter Clark with 4 for 14lbs 4oz who also returned some nice fish including one at 6lbs and the heaviest trout weighed in at 10lbs and was caught by Stewart Wilson. Also doing well was Stewart Sutherland from Kirkintilloch with 3 c/r – best 9lbs, Jim O'Riley (Glasgow) 3 for 8lbs 8oz and returned 1 at 9lbs, Steven Walker (Glasgow) 4 on c/r - largest 13lbs, Peter Clark (Kilsyth) 10 c/r – best 11lbs and Fitzy from Kilsyth had 11 c/r including one at 8lbs. Mick Clark from Glasgow kept 3 for 6lb and returned one at 12lbs 8oz, Brian Robertson 3 c/r - largest 9lb, John Shaw (Kilsyth) 6 c/r - best 7lbs, Bill Moffat (Glasgow) 3 for 8lbs 8oz, Gordon Craig (Glasgow) 1 for 1olbs, Graham Brown 14 c/r on 2 visits and Johnny Curran  had 15 c/r – biggest 8lbs 8oz. Ian Anderson from Cumbernauld had 32 c/r on 3 visits and W Wright from Kilsyth kept a brace weighing 6lbs and returned 4.
On the bait fishing front Mr. Griffin from Glasgow had 6 for 21lbs, Mr. Forsyth (Glasgow) 4 for 10lb, Mr. McGillivary (Glasgow) 2 for 5lbs and Mr. Campbell from Glasgow had 1 for 5lbs 8oz.

1. FRANDY (Gleneagles) ) Fishing from the bank Gerry Grattan from Kincardine kept 2 fish weighing 4lb 8oz and released a further 5, Stuart Allan (Stirling) caught and released 6 and Mark Paterson from Stirling had 6 c/r.
The individual boat returns included Yan Lynborg (Perth) & Craig Deer (Scone) who kept 6 fish weighing 13lb, Malcolm Roger (Glasgow) & Kirk Roger (Broxburn)  5 fish for 10lb 8oz, Brian Hepburn & Alex Hamilton (Kelty) 7 fish for 14lb, John Ramsay & Ian McDonald (Blackford) kept 7 fish weighing 15lb 8oz and George Keith & Tom Lansdown from Dunfermline retained 5 fish weighing 9lb 8oz. Bill Patrick from Leslie caught and released 16 and Billy Thomson & Tosh Stewart (Auchterarder) kept 8 fish weighing 14lb 8oz.
On the angling club front Perth -Ex A/C kept 15 fish weighing 30lb and released a further 12, Grangemouth A/C 19 fish for 40lb 4oz, RAF Northern Lague A/C 21 fish weighing 37lb 11oz, CIBA A/C 11 for 22lb 4oz and Aberdour A/C kept 29 fish weighing 54lb 12oz.  Glasgow Academicals A/C took 7 fish weighing 13lb 14oz, Dunfermline Railway Club 10 fish weighing 22lb and returned 5and Roslin British Legion A/C kept 9 fish weighing 16lb. Grizzle Cats A/C took 10 fish weighing 21lb and released a further 59, Leslie & Glenrothes A/C kept 4 fish weighing 9lb released 2 and KHATS Whisker A/C kept 7 fish weighing 13lb 4oz.
The best flies last week included the Black Hopper, Bibio Hopper, Hot Head Damsel, Yellow Owl and Various Cormorants whilst all areas continue to fish well.

.2. ORCHILL TROUT FISHERY (Braco) The fishing is extremely challenging right now due to the abundance of natural fly life in the water. Angus Inglis from Callander
Had 3 fish for 9lbs 8oz on Dries, Allan Stirling (Auchterarder) 2 fish for 6lbs on a Sedge Hog, G McCulloch (Livingston) 3 fish 9 lbs on Buzzers and Craig Satti from Dunfermline had 1 fish weighing 3lbs on a Montana. Paul Satti from Dunfermline used a Soldier Palmer to take a brace for 5lbs, Jim Linton (Moodiesburn) 8 fish for 20 lbs on an Eggstasy, Donald McDonald (Muthill) 2 fish for 4lbs 4oz on a Diawl Bach and A Black from Stirling caught 4 fish for 12lbs on a Buzzer.

4. MARKLE (East Lothian) John Daly from Edinburgh had 7 on Lures, Joe Beattie (Edinburgh) 7 on a Daddy, Bruce Hunter (Edinburgh) 6 on Buzzers and C King from Edinburgh used a white dry fly to take 8.

5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The week started calm and mild.  Extremely heavy rain on Monday evening – 30mm in 2 hours – coloured the water for a couple of days, but it returned to excellent clarity by midweek.  Water temperature rose from 14oC to 16oC as the week went on.  From Wednesday onwards the weather became hot and sunny and there were more thunderstorms at the end of the week.     Some fish were deep, but most were to be found around 2 to 4 feet down.   An intermediate line with a fast or jerky retrieve was the best tactic and the most successful flies included the usual lures, small nymphs and wet flies such as Pennell, Spider and Kate McLaren.

 On one of the hottest days of the year to date, the Fishery had a visit from a Greenlandic angler and his fishing idol, Paul Young.  The visit was set up by Craig Mathieson of the Polar Academy and a very enjoyable day was had by our Greenlandic visitors with the appearance of Paul Young a much-appreciated surprise for them.
Despite the hot, sunny conditions, plenty of fish were landed this week with some of the best bags including Robert Watt, Glasgow, 5 for 17lb including 4lb 12oz Tiger and 2 Browns, Gary Stewart, Glasgow, 4 for 16lb 2oz including 5lb 2oz Gold and a Blue, Ian Whitfield Jnr, Denny, 2 for 10lb 2oz including 5lb 12oz Tiger and a Blue, Gareth Mair, Kincardine, 5 for 11lb and George Dobbie, Glasgow, 4 for 12lb including 2 Blues, plus 1 C&R. Ian Whitfield, Denny, in two visits, 3 for 11lb including 4lb 12oz Blue, David Brown, Cowie, 3 for 8lb 4oz including a Tiger, John Thomson, 3 for 7lb 12oz including a Blue, Willie MacFadyen, Cowie, 3 for 7lb 8oz including a Brown, plus 2 C&R, Kimin Smith, 2 for 6lb 12oz and Robert Smith, Falkirk, 2 for 6lb. Craig Mason 4lb 4oz Tiger, Harry Haggarty, Glasgow, fishing from his float tube, caught and released 7 including a Blue around 4lb and 2 Browns, David Cameron caught and released 4, Young Arran Gordon caught and released 3 including a Brown estimated at around 8lb and Stewart Marshall caught and released 3 including a Brown and a Tiger.
Amongst those catching on bait were Geraldis and Nedas who shared 5 for 10lb, William Morrison 2 for 4lb 8oz, Roy Hiddleston 2 for 4lb and Mark Wilson 2 for 5lb.
