Harlaw Reservoir near Balerno, run by Malleny Angling Club who also have the north bank of Thriepmuir, Threipmuir is stocked with good brown trout, Harlaw with rainbows.

Mauchline and Ballochmyle AC

Fishing for salmon, sea trout and brown trout on the river Ayr from the bridge over the A76 down to Barskimming Bridge and the Lugar from the meetings of the Ayr and Lugar upstream for about a mile. They also offer fishing for browns, rainbows and blues on Belston Loch near Sinclairstoun. They now control waters on the Ayr formerly covered by Catrine AC adding a further 2 miles to their fishing . Best August to October for salmon.

Melrose AC

Mid Clyde Angling Association

8 miles of fishing for brown trout fishing, they also have withing this stretch 2 salmon beats, Sligo from Newton Bridge to Battle Bridge RH bank and Crown Lease from Bothwell Bridge to Dalmarnock Bridge DD (alny leagal method. no prawn). The river holds good stcks og grayling and some good pike. There are also numbers of coarse fish, barbel, perch, dace and raoch. For salmon permits contact the Treasurer on 01698 889472. Mid Nithsdale Angling Association


Mid Nithsdale Angling Association have been very active providing excellent access to fishing on good pool on their stretch of the Nith.

The have build good road access to pools, automatic gates so there is no need to get out of the car to open them, dedicated parking bays, and an accessible hut between beats 1 and 2.

In total they have 3.5 miles of mostly double bank fishing for salmon, sea trout and brown trout, 18 named pools. Any legal method allowed.

For disabled anglers ther are 3 set of parking bays;

Bay 1. 8 spaces at the junction of the rivers Scaur and Nith.

Bay 2. at the Cran Pool, excellent spinning and worm fishing.

Bay 3. At the foot of Mathers.

Monikie Angling Club

Located in the Monike and Crombie Park the club have 3 "ponds" all boat fishing fly only:

Island Pond 76 acres stocked with rainbows and browns. There are 11 boats.

North Pond 45 acres stocked with rainbows, 6 boats.

Crombie Pond 44 acres with brown trout, 4 boats. Visitor permits available.
