A 5 acre fishery off Clonkeen Rd Randalston stocked with rainbows with plenty of fish in the 3 to 6lb range and doubles. Also brown trout. Boat and bank fishing, stocked weekly. There is a good solid path and a good platform that would suit anglers with disabilities.

Crumlin District Angling Club


Crumlin and District Angling Club have the fishing rights on this small to medium sized river with flows from the Divas Mountain for 13 miles to Lough Neagh.

Fishing is for wild brown trout however in the summer into autumn the river gets runs of dollaghan and a few salmon coming up from the Lough. Dollaghan can grow to double figures. Fishing is with fly, worm or spinner.

The club has also built a concrete platform suitable for disabled anglers to fish on a nice pool.

Membership of the club is a bargain and day tickets can be bought from Petz Zone in Main St, Crumlin and on Sundays from Dans Fruit and Veg also in Main St.

Murlac Angling Centre


Located near Aghalee the fishery has a 5 acre fly only lake and an all legal method pond. Fishing from bank or boat. The boats are 19 footers and can be hired by the hour.

Permits range from C & R 4 hours or all day or catch and keep options. There is a family ticket offer for the bait pond. Open 1st March to 30th October. All fish over 3lbs to be returned.

There are good facilites on site with a log cabin with reception, a tackle shop, hot and cold snacks The fishery and facilities have good access for disabled anglers. There is a BBQ nad picnic area.

Straid Fishery


Near Ballyclare, includes 3 lakes. Main Lake is 20 acres, boat and bank,1200 metres of bank available, 14 boats. Main Lake is stocked with rainbows of 2 to 10lbs (the fishery record is 17lb 4ozs). A good dry fly water with plentiful hatches of buzzers and sedges.

Discovery Lake is a family fishery of 2 acres. A family ticket for 1 adult and 2 children allows any method fishing to 4 fish.

Horsetail Lake is a carp and tench fishery, it also has some rudd. Carp to doubles. This is a members fishery but day tickets can be arranged.

There is a tearoom, male and female toilets and anglers with mobility problems can be transported to a location of their choice.

Tildarg Fishery


A 17 acre fishery near Ballyclare known for its stocks of big trout. The lake is stocked regularly with fish of 2 to 14lbs and there is a resident population of wild breeding rainbows which is a bit special. They also have a wild stock of brown trout.

Fishing is from bank and boat with 11 boats for hire 2 of which are wheelyboats provided free of charge for disabled anglers.

Tickets are C & R and catch and kill, 1,2,3,4 fish followed by C & R. They also offer a no catch policy where you will be given a complimentary half day C & R if you have a blank. They also offer a C& R season ticket.

The fishery has a range of good facilities for when you need a break, a cafe, toilets (male, female and disabled), tackle shop. Parking for disabled is near the boats.

Waterworks Trout Fishery


The fishery is run by Waterwork Fishing Club which has the fishing rights on the shallow top pond of the former Belfast waterworks, 4 to 6ft deep. The fishery is stocked with rainbows of about 2lbs but fish to doubles are present. Fishing is catch and release only with barbless hooks.

The pond also holds coarse fish including roach, bream and pike. Pike fishing is allowed on Sundays in the winter.

There are 3 stands for disabled anglers with designated parking nearby in the park.

Membership is a bargain with discounts for disabled and over 65s and juniors. There is also a family permit. Day tickets from the Newsagents at the corner of Willowbank Gardens and Cavehill Rd or from Braddells in North St, Belfast.

Fishing methods allowed are fly, worm or spinner, no live or dead baits.

Ligoniel Dam, Wolfhill Fishery


A former set of 3 pond built to supply water for the local textile mill has been transformed by a community project to provide an excellent facility for the community, not least the fishing community. Fishing is on the 2 lower ponds.

Water diverted from thr river Forth has supplied these limestone lakes for nearly 200 years producing a fishery with good stocks of coarse fish and some good pike. There may still be trout too. Fishing is strictly catch and release.

There are 2 floating fishing platforms for use by disabled anglers.
