GameFishing Pysgota Gem

Cwncarn Angling Association

Established in 2013 Cwncarm AA has fishing at Cwncarn Forest on a 1 acre gin clear spring fed lake stocked with brown trout 1 to 1.5lbs in size. The lake also has carp, tench, bream, barbel and roach. All fishing is Catch and Release and this is relected in the price of membership which is inexpenseive as is the day ticket. The club also has a stretch of the river Ebbw between Cwncarn and Crosskeys Rugby Club grounds. Permits from the visitors centre at Forest Drive, call 01495 272001 or from Greens Tackle in Pontllanffraith.

The club did some excellent work for disabled, children and able bodied adults who wanted to try fishing. grafting to raise funding for stock and using suitably qualified instuctors they ran session on Saturday mornings but had to stop on May 2018 because poachers, mergansers, goosanders and cormorant have slaughtered the stocks of fish. I do hope that they can gain more funding there's not enough of this selfless work being done, good luck to you all.

Coarse Fishing Pysgota Bras

Caerphilly and District Angling Association

Caerphilly Dist AA have fishing for carp, pike and coarse fish on the very lake with an island in which sits Caerphilly Castle in all of it's medieval granduer. The Castle lakes are accessible to disabled anglers.

The other lake is a short distance away and it is called Castle View. Guess you take in a lot of castle when fishing in Caerphilly. You can also take in some nice carp and big pike for when you tire of the view. There are also bream, tench, roach and perch.

The club also have fishing on the river Wye at Wyesham from October to January and on the river Rhymney, see below.

Tony's Tackle in Caerphilly, call 0290 885409.
