The Canals Trust have over 2,000 miles of waterway to look after for the many interest groups who use them. With so much water it is no wonder that fishing is high on the list of activities.

The Trust issues a Waterway Wanderers Permit that entitles you to fish on an impressive amount of water throughout England and Wales (for just £20).

Conwy Water Gardens


Conwy Water Gardens, just a few miles out of Conwy, has 2 lakes both with purpose built pegs with good paths. Pegs near the car park suitable for anglers with disabilities.

Middle Lake is up to 8ft deep with carp to 19lbs+, ghosties, crucians, bream, tench, orfe barbel, chub, roach and rudd. They added 8 specimen carp this year.

Canal Lake is good pole water stocked with carp, bream, tench amd barbel all to 8lbs.

Good facilities on site including toilets, a cafe and tackle shop.

Day tickets, evenings 5 til 10.30pm. Concessions for disabled, over 65s and under 12yo.

Game Fishing Pysgota Gem

Graiglwyd


Located near Penmaermawr Graiglwyd is a 2.5 acre fishery up to 35 deep in places. Stocked with a variety of species including rainbows, brown trout, blues and tigers from 2 to 22lb all raised on site. There are doubles included in stocking (they recon most are caught fishing deep apound 15ft).

The fishery is spring fed with 18 pegs and a pier.

Catch and keep and catch and release options available, Discount for juniors on C & R.

There is a lodge with a seating area, tolets, a tackle shop. Free tea and coffee available.

Best to book at week ends call 01492 622338. While not mentioned on the web site looking on Google Satellite there does seem to be an area where disabled anglers could fish and it has a vehicle path up the steep bank.

Gwydyr Fishing river Conwy

Gwydyr Fishing is run by an angling club offering season, week and day tickets fishing for salmon, sea trout and brown trout.

They have 2 beats, the upper being 1m from Waterloo Bridge to the meetings with Afon Lledr the lower is 2 miles long from the meetings with the Llugwy / Conwy meetings. They also have 2 miles on the lower Afon Llwdr.

Fishing is mainly fly but they do allow bait, spinning an shrimp in certain conditions.

Llyn Brenig


A very large reservoir with 27k of bank to explore and fish. They recommend a boat to cover the nest locations and it is best to book in advance. Stocked with rainbows raised on site the fish have a reputation for being fierce fighters. Fishing is by fly only.

Llyn Brenig has a great reputation having hosted a number of prestigous fishing competitions including World, Commonwealth and Home Internationals for both able and disabled anglers.

There is a visitor Centre on site with shop, retaurant and toilet facilities.

There are 2 wheelyboats on Llyn Brenig.

Permits from the fishing shop, if it is closed there is a coin operated ticket machine, take plenty of coins with you.
