Western Cleddau river

Pembroke Angling Association offer fishing for salmon, sea trout and brown trout on 15 miles of the Western Cleddau from the upper reaches down to the top of the tidal water at Haverfordwest. They also have a beat on the Eastern Cleddau at Llawhaden.

Some nice wild brownies, season 1st April to 17th October, sea trout start in May with fish to over 10lbs most between 2 and 5lbs. They also have runs of salmon. Fly or ledgered worm permited.

I applaud the Associaton for they have one of very few beats on a river that has been made accessible to anglers with disabilities. There is a pupose built pool and fishing platform created at their Angling Centre in Treffgarne. There is also a lodge, good accessible parking and a picnic area.

Day and week tickets available from:
Country Sport, Old Bridge St, Haverfordwest. SA61 2EZ.

Fertile water with good weed growth provides a habitat for natural "fish food" to flourish with good fly life. The weed beds are managed to ensure clear water for anglers.

The lake is stocked with rainbows and brown trout in the 1 to 5lb range although many fish grown on with the best rainbow being 15lb 10ozs and brownie 10lb.8ozs.

12 day ticket issued daily, floating line and single fly only. Book in advance. Call 01834 831304.

There is a fishing lodge and car park with separate toilets. Level banks with mowed grass makes matters easier for people with mobility issues.
