Canals Trust


The Canals Trust have over 2,000 miles of waterway to look after for the many interest groups who use them. With so much water it is no wonder that fishing is high on the list of activities.

The Trust issues a Waterway Wanderers Permit that entitles you to fish on an impressive amount of water throughout England and Wales (for just £20).

Coarse Fishing


Broadlands Lakes


There are 3 lakes at Broadlands plus fishing on the rivers Test and Blackwater. The lakes are:

Main Lake, 26 acres fed by waters from the river Test. Lots (I mean lots) of double carp and over 500 20lb plus, there are also roach and eels.

Lower Lake is 2.5 acres, a pleasure lake with carp to27lbs, roach and eels.

Match Lake, 2 acres with 42 pegs good for the pole angler, carp, bream, tench, roach and perch.

There is fishing on the Test salmon, trout, pike to 20lbs, carp to 20 lbs, bream, perch, roach, they have a half mile of the Blackwater including the meetings with the Test.

Disabled anglers have been catered for with specially built platforms with disabled toilets on site.

Dandys Ford Fishery


Located near Romsey Dandys Ford consists of 3 lakes with disabled access to most swims. There is a lodge with cafe and the facilities for disabled.

The lakes are:

Lodge Lake, 23 pegs with carp to doubles, bream, perch, roach, crucians, barbel, green and golden tench.

Calvert, 28 pegs with carp, crucians, silvers, bream, chub, tench.

Kingfisher, 10 pegs on a canal style pool with carp, barbel, roach, crucians, bream, green and golden tench.

Hordle Lakes


A complex of 7 lakes in the New Forest National Park. The lakes are:

Bob Lake the biggest lake with 35 swims, carp to low 30s plus bream, tench, perch, roach, chub.

Canal Lake, 10 swims, carp to 20lbs, tench, roach, rudd, perch, bream.

Willow Lake, carp to 20lbs, tench, roach, skimmers, perch, bream.

Tiddler Lake, ideal for youngster, carp to 5lbs.

Long Lake, 20 swims, carp to 24lbs, roach, rudd, perch, skimmers, tench.

Tench Lake, 15 pegs, carp to 20lbs, tench to 4 lbs, silvers.

Spring Lake, 20 pegs, carp 24lbs, tench, bream, perch, roach, rudd.

There is good parking throughout the complex near the lakes and some swims have benn set aside for wheelchair users. There are loos on site too.

Portsmouth and District Angling Society


PDAS have 12 still water venue one including a bit of a river Rother trinutary and 4 stretches of local rivers.

The still waters are:

Baffins Pond, a 7 acre lake of Tangiers Road on Portsea Island in Portsmouth. There are carp to 20lbs, roach, rudd and gudgoen. Very good wheelchair access to the lake with toilets nearby in Tangiers Rd.

Abshot, a shallow farm pond with 10 swims holding true crucians, carp, rudd, roach, perch and tench to 6lbs.

Alver Valley, a 2 acre lake holding carp to 15lbs, tench, rudd, roach.

Brockhurst Moat, fishing in the moat surrounding one of the old Napoleonic Wars defense fort in Gosport. Roach, rudd, perch, pike a few big carp and some tench.

Brownwich Pond, a 4acre lake a carp water with some good roach, rudd and pike.

Carron Row Farm, 3 acres made up of 5 ponds including a specimen carp pool.

Funtley Pond, 3 acres with carp, tench, roach, rudd, bream, perch, pike.

Lakeside, right next to the IBM HQ. Carp, crucians, bream, roach, chub, perch to 2lbs.

Sinah Lake, 15 acres former gravel pit on Hayling Island. Carp, tench, bream, to doubles, roach, rudd.

Soake Lake, Denmead, carp, lots of tench, good roach plus rudd and pike.

Stanbridge Park and the river Rother tributary. 2 ponds, Lily - carp, tench, roach, bream, crucians, perch, rudd; Long carp; river, trout, gudgeon, roach and rudd.

Tithe Barn, Titchfield, a 3 lake complex with: Top Lake a specimen carp water; Middle carp, tench, barbel, perch; Bottom, small carp, bream, crucians, silvers.

The rivers are:

River Hamble, near Botley, fly and coarse fishing, wild brown trout, grayling, chub, roach, dace. There is also a run of sea trout and a Mayfly hatch.

Ford Lake Stream near Durley, species are for Hamble.

River Wallington. Counting Weir, ideal for the angler who likes to rove. Chub, roach, carp, dace, perch, gudgeon, trout.

River Wallington, Comphouse Farm, roach, perch, chub.

Membership is reasonably prices with discounts for students, juniors, disabled and over 65s.

Ringwood and District Angling Association


RDAA have fishing throughout Dorset and Hampshire. For members they have access to16 lakes, 10 stretches of the Avon, 10 on the Stour plus Throops on the Stour where day tickets are available. They also have fishing on 2 beats of Royalty on the Avon.

Many fisheries have disabled parking and facilities..

Willow Lake


A 22 acre day ticket complex with 4 lakes, a cafe with facilities for disabled anglers. The lakes are:

Big Lake, 10 acres 30 bark pegs with some double and trebles great for families. 350 carp to 30lbs, many 20s and lots of high teens.

Middle Lake is 2 acres 27 pegs with some doubles. Carp to 17lbs, bream, tench, roach, perch.

Small Lake, 1.5 acres. A 30 platform mixed match lake carp to 17lbs, tench, bream, roach and perch.

Stock Pond, a 0.6 acre pond great for beginners or kids. Lots of fish.

Chiphall Lake Trout Fishery


Near Wickham is a single lake of 4.5 acres, stream fed with gin clear water from the river Meon.

Stocked with rainbows and brown and golden trout (rainbow record 18lb 13oz, brown trout record 9lbs 2ozs) with goldens and brown trout catch and release only.

Car parking is right next to the water. There is also a solid platform in front of the lodge which is suitable for disabled anglers.

There is a lodge where you can get a free cuppa and toilets on site.

If you do not catch your limit they will give a credit to return for a small fee.

Five Oaks Trout Lake and Lodge


A two acre spring fed lake on Sarisbury Green in Southampton, up to 25ft deep. The lake is stocked with rainbows, blues, sandys and brown trout.

There is a lodge with B & B, camping, a bar. The site is also fully accesible to disabled persons with ramp access to the lodge, dedicated parking, and toilets for disabled.
