Canals Trust


The Canals Trust have over 2,000 miles of waterway to look after for the many interest groups who use them. With so much water it is no wonder that fishing is high on the list of activities.

The Trust issues a Waterway Wanderers Permit that entitles you to fish on an impressive amount of water throughout England and Wales (for just £20).

City of London


The City controls fishing on 24 lakes and ponds in Epping Forest 3 of which have had special works carried out to ensure they are accessible to disabled anglers and the less able. The lakes and ponds are:

Balwins Pond, Bell Common Pond, South Blackweir Pond, Bullrush Pond, Butlers Retreat, Higham Park Lake, Johnstons Pond, Knighton Land, Reigh Lake, Lower Forest Lake, Oak Hill South Park, Ornamental Waters, Perch Pond, Pizzle Pit, South Potato Pond, Staples Pond, Theydon Bois Pond, Wake Valley Pond, Hawcock Ponds, Warren Pond.

Earls Path Pond, Hollow Pond, Connaught Water have the accessibility improvementsfor the disabled.

Looks like all you need is your rod license, only fish in permitted waters and the closed season does apply.

Croydon Lake


A 25.5 acre mixed fishery in a public park with toilets including facilities for disabled persons. Permits are available on site on a day or season basis. The close season applies.

Fairlops Water


Fairlops in Ilford has 2 lakes, a 3 acre specimen carp lake with 30lb+ fish. There is a larger 38 acre lake with big pike and carp (30+) plus roach, bream and roach, (big pike need to eat).

Day tickets and membership avaiable. There is a platform for diasabled anglers.

Thamesmead Town Angling Club


Thamesmean Town AC have fishing on 3 lakes:

Gallions, a day ticket water (excludes the canal) with carp to the high 20s, bream to 9lbs, roach to 2lb+ . Google Map 51.498357, 0.086191 POst Code SE28 0HX

The lakes are accessible to disabled anglers although there are no pegs specifically set up for them. There are no loos on site.

They have a lively match scene. Membership online from their web site, discounts for seniors, disabled and juniors.

Game Fishing

Sorry nothing coming up in my search for trout. Looking at Syon Park I would say it would be good for people with reduced mobility. The same applies to the Walthamstow lakes, as I recall they are concrete tanks. Casting would be ok but you would need help landing a fish.
