The Canals Trust have over 2,000 miles of waterway to look after for the many interest groups who use them. With so much water it is no wonder that fishing is high on the list of activities.
The Trust issues a Waterway Wanderers Permit that entitles you to fish on an impressive amount of water throughout England and Wales (for just £20).
Clifton Coutry Park
Fishing on Clifton Marina in the 100 care Clifton Country Park on the banks of the river Irwell. Permits cost buttons and what do you get for a small outlay - carp to 40lb, tench and bream to 13, big roach, and pike. Not bad.
You can off course drive there, there is good parking or you can jump on a No 22 bus. On site there is a Visitor Centre, cafe, toilets including facilities for disabled. The fishing is accessible, a 100 yard push from the car park.

In the centre of the park is the Overflow Lake, a boating lake that holds carp, bream, roach and tench. Permits from the bailiff who comes round. There are good paths around the lake and toilets at the rowing boats moorings. It would be suitable for disabled anglers.

Stockport And District Anglers Federation
The Federation have fishing on a number of still waters and on 4 miles of the river Goyt. The stillwaters are:
Etherow Country Park fishing on Compstall Lodge. The water is divided in 2 by a causeway creating a canal style water and the main lake. Big carp, shoals of good bream and silvers. The park has a cafe and parking. There are toilets including a RADAR facility for disabled visitors. Motorised wheelchairs are available free of charge, please book in advance. Post Code SK6 5JD
Poyton Pool, carp to 20s (possibly to 30s). SK12 1BR
Woodbank Park, a reservoir holding good stocks of carp, tench, roach and perch. SK1 4JR
Reddish Vale, a reservoir with 41 pegs holding large carp, good numbers of bream plus, roach, rudd, perch, skimmers, crucians and chub. SK5 7HE
New House Farm, 30 pegs, mixed coarse fishery.

This attractive site site has 10 acres of fishing water made up of the main lake and a canal style water. The main lake has carp to 30+ and pike to 20 + plus bream, perch roach and tench. The canal water has carp, bream, roach, perch and tench. Day tickets from the Lakeside Cafe, buy before you start to fish, costs double if payed for on the bank.
There is a kiosk selling hot and cold snacks and drinks as well as the cafe. Toilets with facilities for disabled visitors and designated parking for disabled.
