Canals Trust


The Canals Trust have over 2,000 miles of waterway to look after for the many interest groups who use them. With so much water it is no wonder that fishing is high on the list of activities.

The Trust issues a Waterway Wanderers Permit that entitles you to fish on an impressive amount of water throughout England and Wales (for just £20).

Christ Church Meadows


Located in Oxford, Free fishing on the Thames from Wolsey Road.

Disabled access near Wolsey Road with a specially designed platform giving good acces to the river.

Milton Pools


Just off the M40 at Junction 7 near Great Milton the fishery offers mixed fishing on 6 pools including a specimen water. There are carp to 40+, specimen tench, pike, to 30lbs, perch and roach.

The site has a bait and tackle shop, cafe, toilets including washing facilities and good security.

Most pegs are accessible to disabled anglers.

Orchid Lakes


Located near Dorchester on Thames Orchid lakes has been set up to serve speciman carp anglers by a specimen specialist. Try saying that after a shandy or two.

The main lake is a 17.6 acres former gravel pit containging up to 40 fish in the 30+ bracket and 2 to 300 fish up to 30lbs. There is also a club lake, 2 acres with a mix of species including catfish to 60lbs

There is transport too and from pegs, a cafe and lodge on site with ladies, gents and disabled facilities and showers. You can even hire a small lodge if you want someting better than your bivvie.

Upper Farm Henton


A 1 acre pair of spring fed pools sepearted by a narrow waterway stocked with a mix of fish including common, crucian, mirror, leather, grass carp to high teens, plus chub, roach, rudd, bream, perch and orfe.

Pond 1 at 0.6 of and acre has 11 swims with one peg, peg 6, reserved for wheelchair users.

Game Fishing


Aldwell Estate Lake


Taking an interesting approach to creating a fishery Ardwell, near Thame, first dug a pool in an existing stream and as you do you add more. Now there are 6 pools on the stream and 2 separate lakes stocked with rainbows 1.25lbs to 5lbs. There is a hut with WC and they recon the fishery has good wheelchair access.

A Membership fishery but they allow days by appointment, call 01844 281642.

Farmoor Reservoir


A 400 acre fishery split by a narrow causeway forming two lakes. Stocked annually with 30,000 fish, rainbows and brown trout from 2.25lbs upwards.

Lake 1 is catch and release only and as a result has some specimen sized brown trout and some very large rainbows. Mostly bank fishing, there is 1 boat.

Lake 2 is a catch and take fishery, bank and boat fishing

I assume permits from the lodge where there is a tackle shop, cafe and toilets.

There is car parking around the fishery and there are 2 wheelieboats.
