Game Fishing

Chew Valley

Opened in 1956 the reservoir is impressive and challenging at 1200 acres. Created over fertile farm land this shallow lake (av depth 14 feet, max at the dam 35 feet) offers great fly fishing as a result of the abundant aquatic life with abundant shrimp, snails, corixa, and fly nymphs especially buzzers.

The lake record stands at 22lbs 7ozs for a brownie and 14lbs 9ozs for a rainbow and I bet they grew on to these weights rather than being fattened in stew pond.

There are day and season tickets availalble, call 01275 332339

Woodford Lodge is availalble for a bit of a break, a beverage or a meal, to get your permit or visit the tackle shop. There are toilet facilities there too.
