The Canals Trust have over 2,000 miles of waterway to look after for the many interest groups who use them. With so much water it is no wonder that fishing is high on the list of activities.
The Trust issues a Waterway Wanderers Permit that entitles you to go fishing on an impressive amount of water throughout England (for just £20).
Located near Grantham in the grounds of the home patch of the Duke of Rutland are 2 lakes:
Lower Lake, 12 acres and Small Lake at just 1 quarter of an acre. The lakes are shallow and silty with many features including stream beds, a waterfall and a rather attractive bridge.
A mixed fishery it has carp to 30lbs, pike to 25lbs, bream to 14lbs, big perch, tench and roach. They recon about 500 carp with good numbers of doubles and twenties.

Broome Angling Society
Broome AS have 14 waters availble to fish for its members. Membership is inexpensive with discounts for over 65s, disabled and juniors.

Frisby Complex consisting of 6 lakes and ponds:
Jurassic Lake, a specimen carp lake, partially named for its early morning ambience (scarry) and for the size of the fish
Sanctuary, a mixed fishery with skimmers, large carp, rudd, roach and tench.
BJs Lake is the largest lake holding bream, skimmers, tench, rudd and roach. Good pleasure water or you can go hunt for the carp.
Jasons Pond a good mixed fishery with "surprises".
Colver Lake, lots of carp 1 to 3lbs, roach, rudd, bream, chub, barbel.
Smiggies Lake, bream 3 to 4lbs, roach, rudd, gudgeon, lots of small skimmers and tench, a few carp.

Eye Ketleby Lakes
Part of a holiday complex near Melton Mowbray there are 9 lakes 7 of which (2 to 7 plus Parkland Lakae) are available on a day ticket basis. Lakes 1 and Kingfisher are residents only.

Greenhill Angling Club
GAC have quality venues in three locations:
Ashpole Spinney with carp, chub, perch, rudd, bream and tench. Stocked in 2017 with a mix of 2,000 fish including carp and bream to 3lbs. A futures lake. Parking and toilets on site.
Thurlestone, Moat and Lake. The Moat has specimen crucians, big barbel, good roach, chubb, rudd, perch and tench. The Lake is a carp water with lots of carp and F1s. Big catches on this water. Parking and toilets on site.
Fortway Farm Fishery is a day ticket water (free for members) with 2 canal stretches holding stocks of carp, roach, bream, perch and gudgeon.
Membership costs are very reasonable with discounts for over 65. 2 free tickets for juniors.

Hinckley Angling Club
The club has fishing on a secured site on Little Pit off Barwell Lane in Hinckley. Rcently re-landscaped the fishery provides an attractive get away where you can fish for carp to the 20s, big pike, bream, tench and crucians.

Leicestershire County Council Parks.
Leicester County Council offer season tickets to lakes in their parks, to county residents. These tickets allow you to fish in waters not available to Day Ticket holders.There is night fishing option.
Other ticket options include Adult, Senior, Junior, Blue Badge and Family.
The lakes are;
Watermead Park, Syston- John Merrick's Lake, Lears Lake and Lily Pond. Lear and Lily offer day tickets. Bream, carp, perch, pike, roach, tench. Red Circle Angling Club
Based in a former marina off Thurcaston Road in Leicester the club has fishing within a nature reserve. The species available are varied and include, carp, chub, perch, bream, rudd, roach, pike, tench and gudgeon, infact anything that can get in from the river Soar.
Membership is inexpensive and then there are concessions for disabled anglers, senior citizens and juniors (16 and under). Under 12 fish for free.

Spring Grange Fisheries
Located near Beeby, Spring Grange offers fishing on two lakes.
Carp Lake, 18 pegs, holds a number of carp species including commons to 27lbs, mirrors to 20, leatherbacks to 24 kio to 11lbs, grass, crucians and ghosts. There are also some tench.
Coarse Lake, 17 pegs, has a good mix including carp to 15lbs, roach, tench, perch, rudd, gudgeon.

Temple Farm Fishing Pool
The fishery, near Hickley, is a 1.5 acre pool with a central island. The surrounding banks are well cared for with level grassland to the waters edge making it accessible to people with mobility problems or wheelchair users.
