The Canals Trust have over 2,000 miles of waterway to look after for the many interest groups who use them. With so much water it is no wonder that fishing is high on the list of activities.
The Trust issues a Waterway Wanderers Permit that entitles you to go fishing on an impressive amount of water throughout England (for just £20).
Ashfield Angling Club
A large club with a number of venues around Newark, Nottingham and Yorkshire on the river Trent and 2 lakes. The ranges of species is mostly carp, pike, zander, barbel, chub, roach, bream with some skimmers but you just never know whats about.
Membership is in demand and there is a waiting list but they do issue day tickets for parts of Stoke Bardolf. Best to Google their web site to get the full information there is too much to cover here.
The club has also provided pegs suitable for disabled anglers.
Covert Springs Fishery
4 Lakes just of the A6097 opposite Epperstone Park Hatcheries. A specimen carp lake plus 3 mixed coarse fisheries all in a tree lined sheltered setting. Carp, bream, perch, roach and tench.

Part of a carvan park the fishery has 6 lakes and a stretch of the river Idle. The lakes all have parking behind each peg and are as follows:
Reed Pool, 48 pegs has some larger platforms suitable for disabled anglers. The pool holds common and mirror carp to 20lbs, leathers to 16 and ghosts to 14lbs. In addition there are bream, tench, roach, chub, rudd, perch.Croft Pool, 28, pegs holding common, mirror and crucian carp, bream, tench, rudd and eels.
Bridge Pool, 84 pegs, common, mirror and ghost carp, bream, tench, roach, perch.

Donut Pool, 18 pegs, holds lots of silver fish, carp to doubles, skimmer bream, roach, rudd, ide and orfe. This pool is suitable for disabled anglers.

Located on the Greasely Estate the fishery consists of a carp fishery in the reservoir and a coarse fishery.
The reservoir is 38 acres with 50 pegs and goes to 30 feet deep in places. There are 4 islands, woodland on one side while the other side is grassland. Stocked with large numbers of fish some years ago the carp have grown on with many fish in the 20s, best mirror recently, 37lbs best common 36lbs with a lake record of 43lb 12 oz.
The coarse lake is has 20 pegs, 2 to 12ft deep. There are pike and carp to mid twenties, tench to 8lbs plus roach, rudd and perch.
There is a shower block with drinking water and facilities to make hot drinks. They also offer transport too and from the pegs.

Nottingham Angling Association
With over 2,500 members Nottingham AA needs a lot of water to satisfy the masses and they have it. In fact so much that it would be pointless to summaries for you here, as I do for most fisheries, giving you the option to go there or explore further on the internet. I will just give you a link to fishing on the Attenborough Nature Reserve, rivers Trent and Maun, Grantham Canal Sowbrook, Thurlby Gravel Pits, the river Soar the Erewash Canal and more.

For disabled anglers there is a lot of water suitable for people with mobility issues however Beaston Canal with concrete walkways and Sowbrook Lake with 6 dedicated platforms for wheel chair users are best.
Membership is very reasonably priced with reductions for over 65s, disabled and juniors. Day tickets are avaible for some venues.
Nottingham Piscator Society
Day Tickets available on 2 miles of navigable stretches of the river Trent at Friskerton and Rolleston with specimen barbel, chub, pike and carp plus roach, perch, dace. Permits from Fiskerton Post Office and tackle shops in the area.
The Society aslo have, for members only, a further stretch of the Trent at East Stoke and 6 beats on the non navigable river.
They have 6 coarse lakes, one with carp, bream, roach, zander and pike. A specimen carp and tench lake and a pole fishing / beginners lake with crucians, roach, skimmers, perch, tench and chub. The other three are mixed fisheries. In addition they have a trout fishery.
The Society runs a number of competitions and is active in bringing on juniors.
Office Lake Fishery
A former gravel quarry near Thurgarton from the 1950s undergoing restoration offers day, night and season tickets.
Some cracking fish, Wels catfish to 70lbs (there is even a bright yellow one, possibly the spirit of the site health and safety officer?) Carp to 25lb have been stocked and there are good numbers of pike, roach, rudd, perch and eels.
You can drive to your peg too.
