Barrow River


The Barrow forms the boundary between Co Laois and Co Kildare from a point near Coneyboro down through Maganey to Aughdoyne. The Barrow has so much to offer for game and coarse anglers and it also has a viable run of twaite shad. For more information go to :

Stillwaters / Loughs


Laois Angling Centre


Consists of 4 lakes stocked with rainbow trout and brown trout, carp and tench near Coolrain making it an excellent mixed fishery venue.

Lake A is a game fishery fly fishing for rainbows and brown trout. Lake B is coarse fishery with carp and tench. Lake C is fly fishing for rainbows and brownies and Lake D is a worm fishery for rainbows and brownies.

Full facilities on site including wheelchair access.

Grantstown Lake


Just 4 miles from Durrow, is a course fishery run by the Durrow and District Angling Club. 20 pegs all of which can accommodate anglers in wheelchairs.

Membership is inexpensive with discounts for juniors and pensioers. Day tickets are also available.

Permits from Lawlors Garden Centre, Gala Shop, Daybreak Shop all in Durrow and Mountrath Angling Shop.
