Rivers Game


Barrow


The lower reaches of the river Barrow form the border with Kilkenny. The river is tidal from New Ross downstream. Above New Ross the river joins the Nore and continues as the border to a point near Poulmounty Mill where it moves away from Wexford. Some excellent pike fishing, runs of shad, some salmon, coarse fishing.

Slaney


The Slaney offers many opportunities to fish for salmon, sea trout and brown trout both on the main river and it's tributaries the Dereen, Derry, Bann, Urrin, Boro and Sow.

There are angling clubs and beat owners offering day ticket access.

Owenavarragh


The Owenavarragh Angling Association controls a good stretch of the river from Ballywater Bridge to Courtown.

The fishing is for wild brownie to about half a pound supplimented by stockies in the 1 to 2lb range. The river also gets a run of sea trout in the summer best fished for at night.

Blackwater Lake


A sping fed lake holding stocks of trout. Fly only, 2 fish limit.

A mixed fishery with with a number of lakes covering fly fishing for rainbows and brown trout, a speciman carp lake with fish to 20lbs and a family lake with carp, rudd, roach, tench and rainbow trout. The family lake is used by wheelchair users.

Oaklands Lake Coarse Fishery


Oaklands in a 4.5 acre man made lake stocked with carp to mid teens, tench, rudd and bream lovated near New Ross.

There are 60 pegs all wheelchair friendly, a cafe, toilets and a tackle shop. The fishery runs a very active match scene. Day tickets and annual club membership available at reasonable prices.
