Canals Trust


The Canals Trust have over 2,000 miles of waterway to look after for the many interest groups who use them. With so much water it is no wonder that fishing is high on the list of activities.

The Trust issues a Waterway Wanderers Permit that entitles you to fish on an impressive amount of water throughout England and Wales (for just £20).

Afron Ffraw


Sea and brown trout fishing on a short river flowing into Aberffraw Bay from Llyn Coron. There is no information on who to approach for permission to fish other than to approch local land owners who might give access.

Llyn Alaw


The water supply for the whole of Angelsey comes from this 315 hectare reservoir. The water is extremely fertile going to over 5 metres in places. The conditions allow for a prodigeous growth rate in the population of wild brown trout and stocked rainbows. Bank and boat fishing available. Call 01407 730762.

Llyn Cefni


This reservoir near Llangfern is run by the Cefni Angling Association offering good quality fishing on this 86 hectare water.

Best flies are the black coloured patterns. Season membership is available. They also offer day evening and week tickets that can be bought at;

Peter Rowe Jewellers in Llangfern or Anglesey Bait Centre in Beaumaris.

The club has installed pontoons to give disabled anglers good access and a wheely boat is available.

Llyn Coron


An 80 acre lake well known for it's brown trout fishing and the runs of sea trout coming in from the river Ffraw. The lake hold good stocks of perch so watch out for fish feeding on fry later in the year. Lily Pad Pond: 8 pegs, 0.8 acres stocked with carp, bream, roach, rudd, perch.

Match Lake, 2 acres, 30 pegs, good for pole fishing. Carp to 4lbs, bream, tench, barbel, chub, perch, ide, roach, rudd.

Pleasure Lake, 2 acres, 30 pegs. Carp, F1, bream, tench, golden tench, ide, crucians, eels, roach, rudd, fish up to 10lbs.

Karpium. 1.5 acres specimen carp 5lbs to 15lbs.

Old Carp Lake, 4.5 cares, 24 pegs, carp and catfish. Carp to26lbs and catfish to 45lbs.

Lake 1 is 1.75 ares with 14 swims, shallow, ranging from 4 to 5ft.

Lake 2 is smaller at .75 acres with 6 swims but slightly deeper in places, ranging from 3 to 7ft.

Angling Club Pysgota Clwb


Holyhead and District Angling Club


Unsurprisingly this club is a sea fishing and club but it also has a coarse fishing section. They have the .75 acre Cwm reservoir stocked with carp, perch, crucians, rudd, tench, bream and roach.

Membership is very inexpensive and they even discount for disabled and juniors. They even have their own club house with a bar. Call 01407 76382 for further information. The fishery is accessible to disabled anglers.
