Canals Trust


The Canals Trust have over 2,000 miles of waterway to look after for the many interest groups who use them. With so much water it is no wonder that fishing is high on the list of activities.

The Trust issues a Waterway Wanderers Permit that entitles you to fish on an impressive amount of water throughout England and Wales (for just £20).

Pontardawe and Swansea Angling Society Ltd


PASAS is an amalgamation of Pontardawe and Swansea Angling Society and Tawes Disabled Fishers Association (TDFA formed in 1976 to encourgae disabled persons to take up fishing and operates as a sub committee of PASAS Ltd)

They now own or control most of the fishing on the river Tawe from Ynysmeudwy to the sea at Abertawe fishing for salmon, sea trout and brown trout most of which is good fly water but has some stretches best suited to worm or spinner.

In addition they have fishing the on:

The Upper and Lower Clydach

The Gwilli on the right bank at Geubren Farm above Pont y Geuben

The Celili, 1,300 yards single and double bank from the junction with the rivers Usk.

Membership is inexpensive with disacounts for disabled, over 65s, juniors, students. Day tickets are avaiable from HR Jones in Clydach.

Fishing for brown trout and rainbows fly, bait on 21 acre lake near Felindre. Banks have limited space for fly fishing by report. There is a cafe where you can buy a permit.

Paper Mill Fishery


Located in Fforest-Fach near Swansea just off the B4560 this matured fishery is trickle stocked daily with rainbows from 1.5lbs to the 2/3lb mark. Thay also pop in a few biggies to gee things up. Biggest rainbow 23lbs 11ozs and brownie 17lbs 11ozs. All brown trout catch and release

Permit options day and evening tickets catch and keep or catch and release (no C & R June , July, August).

City of Swansea Council


City of Swansea lease 2 lakes to Brynmill and District AC 2 water:

Fenrod Lake, a 13 acre lake in the Swansea Enterprise Park which has 75 pegs, most are concrete, some of which are suitable for disabled anglers. The lake is stocked with carp to just under 30lbs, bream doubles, tench to 6lbs.

Half Round Pond, 2 small ponds adding up to about half an acre located in the Wyevale Garden Centre grounds. Carp to mid twneties, tench to 6lb, perch, skimmers, brown goldfish, roach. There are 40 pegs.

4 other water are listed by 7 the council.

Singleton Boating lake available when the boats are not in operation during the summer 10am to 6pm, up to 15 pegs. Some big carp also bream, tench and roach.

Clyne, near Blackpill, 8 anglers, mostly roach some rudd, tench and carp.

Singleton Lily pond, a juniors water, bream, rudd, crucians and carp.

Pluck Lake near the liberty stadium.hardly fished, weedy. Big bream, tench, eels and what else? Try it to find out.

Season tickets are available from Mainwarings in Skelty, HR Jones in Clydach and directly form the Council, call 01792 635411.

Day and week tickets can be bought on the bank from the bailiff.

White Springs Fishery


5 lakes offering a wide choice of water and 16 species of fish, located near Pontarddulais.

The lakes are:

Specimen Lake, carp to 44lbs with many fish in the high teens.

Big Pit, this lake has some very deep water and several islands. Stocked with carp to 28lbs, big tench, perch, bream.

Canal Lake, has lots of islands with lily pads and irises around the fringes. Bream, tench, carp, perch, barbel and golden orfe.

Pleasure Lake has 21 pegs, mixed coarse.

Match lake has 26 pegs, suits pole fishing well. Carp, perch, roach chub.

Some perch go to 5lbs+.

Good facilities with pegs accessible to disabled anglers and parking by pegs. There is also an on site tackle shop and accomodation.

Swansea Angling Club


Swansea AC has a lease on coarse fishing lakes on the edge of the Gower at Geli Hir farm and the village of Three Crosses . The lakes are well stocked for pleasure fishing with crucians, tench, roach, rudd, brean and some mirror and common carp. No bivvies no night fishing.

There is an easy access platform on the main lake. The club also has a very lively club competition scene.

Membership and day tickets available from Mainwarings Angling Centre, Sketty or Country Stoes in Gowerton. Membership is very reasonable.

Tawes and Tributaries Angling Assciation


TTAA have the fishing on the Tawes from Pontardawe Bridge up to the source at Llyn y Fawr and on the tributaries.

The fishing is for brown trout and sea trout with some salmon. Fly, spinning and wrom allowed.

They also have Brynhenllys Stillwater Fishery, fly only for brown trout and rainbows. The fishery has a platform for disabled anglers. There is a cafe and there are toilets on site.

Membership is very reasonable and season, week and day tickets are available for people ineligible to be members, again well priced.

Broadway Garage, Gurnos; HR Jones Ironmonger and Fishing Tackle, 68, High St, and Cwmtwrch Post Office in Hoel Twrch all in Swansea and Classy Curtain and Cofion Cynnes in Ystrdgylais.
