Shetland Angling Association

What a place for trout fishing, over 300 lochs and all for £30 a season.

Shetland Angling Association have fishing on about 70 lochs all hold brown trout, some have sea trout and SAA are actively working to re-establish the sea trout fishing which not so long ago was very good (Farmed Shetland salmon are big business but I am sure there is no connection between the demise of sea trout and the concurrent rise in fish farming as demonstrated by the coincidental decline of sea trout in the West Highlands). Many lochs are fly only but spinning is also allowed on some waters. Call 01595 696025 for information.

Here is some information about some of the lochs;

Loch of Cliff on Unst is a 2 mile long narrow loch holding trout averaging 10ozs and sea trout from August onwards. In recent years there have been some big fish off the loch as they benefit from food spillage from fish farm cages. Google Map Reference 60.801583, -0.886005
